The Art of the Undergarment and the Road to Confidence
It has taken me a very long time to be comfortable in “my skin.” Growing up I was thin but had God-awful birthing hips for a girl my age. While all my girlfriends wore sizes two and four (as they still do), I couldn’t escape the size six to eight bracket. My best friend at the time, Chelsea, was graced with a larger “set of ladies,” if you will but not as much junk in the trunk. It’s safe to say, at times we each wished we had what the other had. Between our unspeakable and self-deemed embarrassing insecurities, we made a promise to each other that we would only own “pretty panties” from that point forward. I’m not talking super expensive lingerie for every occasion. More so something that compliments you and would make you feel incredible everyday if you were wearing nothing else. The little promise we made to each other even went as far as Chelsea gifting me a pair of (my still favorite) black lace cheekies from England. (If you’ve never owned a pair of cheekies, I suggest you invest tomorrow. They’ll make your tush look out of this world.)
To this day the Pretty Panties Promise still holds true. I didn’t realize what an impact this would have so far down the road, though. Like every girl, I have dumb meltdowns about how I look and am always saying “I could lose more weight.” Today I had it with that thinking and did a little shopping for myself. I bought beautiful, simple underwear that will make me feel incredible whether I’m at the most I’ve ever weighed in my life (right now) or how I envision myself two months down the road, ten pounds lighter. So, with all that said, I challenge you to find your Pretty Panties and realize your true beauty. It comes from your self-confidence… and yes, down to what’s underneath those triple-digit-duds. Good luck, ladies xx
